Fiscalini Ranch Bird Walk (for those with some birding experience)

Fiscalini Ranch Bird Walk (for those with some birding experience)
Oct 1
8:30 am - 11 am

Location: Registrants will be informed of location
Docent: Jim Royer

This walk is limited to 10 individuals so we ask that only experienced birders join in.
Join Jim Royer, an expert in local birds, for a small group birding walk on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. Birders will start in the forest. For those who would like to bird more, the docent will continue with the group down to the coastal prairie area of the Preserve. Binoculars are recommended for all participants. The leader will have a spotting scope, but participants are welcome to bring their own scope if they so desire. All participants are encouraged to download the eBird and Merlin Bird ID apps on their phones so we can use them on the walk. Weather allowing, we should find a good variety of resident birds (e.g., Pygmy Nuthatch and Brown Creeper) as well as fall migrants like various warblers and shorebirds. Walking in both the forest and the coastal prairie will enable exploration of a wide variety of habitats.

Participants should be prepared for a 2-4 miles (for both forest & prairie walks) of very casual hiking on dirt trails with some small elevation. Please dress in layers, with sun protection and poison oak protection. There are no restroom facilities on the Ranch so plan accordingly. No dogs please. Rain cancels.

Any questions can be addressed by phone or text to the leader. Email barbara@ffrpcambria.org for his contact information.
