Family Walk in the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve Forest

Family Walk in the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve Forest

Location: Registrants will be informed of location
Docent: Stephen Beck

Spend a part of your morning on Native American Heritage Day by enjoying a family walk in the forest of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. The walk is appropriate for children 6 and older. Children must be accompanied by a parent.

During the walk, the docent will show participants how to use the Seek app on their smart phone or tablet so they can enjoy learning the names of plants and animals. Children will learn how they can earn species and challenge badges. The app, Seek by iNaturalist, has no ads, requires no registration and is completely free to use.

In keeping with Native American Heritage Day, we will view evidence of a location used by indigenous people who once lived in the area we now call Cambria. We will celebrate the day as we learn a little about the people who lived in the area for thousands of years before the first Spaniards arrived.

The walk will be between 60 and 90 minutes, under two miles and is limited to 14 participants. For the ongoing effort to keep everyone safe from COVID, we request that unvaccinated individuals wear a face mask.
